Too many applicants leave the application forms until the last minute. They assume the forms will be easy to fill out and won’t require much critical thinking or effort; however, this is not entirely true. There are definitely some components of the forms that require close attention. If you wait until the last minute to fill them out, you will miss a prime opportunity to use this additional tool to bolster your candidacy.
In fact, the forms are the first part of the application that is read by the admissions committee; so if they are incomplete, rushed, full of errors, or below the quality level of the other parts of your application, then you may hurt your candidacy from the start. Have your forms proof read by a couple of other people to make sure that they are a sparkling representation of you.
In this MBA Prep Step™, we will run through the general sections on the forms, share some tips, and answer frequently asked questions.
One important caveat: we are sharing general policies and guidelines based on our experience with applicants to many of the top schools. However, you need to follow the exact “letter of the law” for each school’s application form. A school’s specific instructions may change from year-to-year. So please, be sure to read the submission requirements carefully for each school that you are applying to.
