Kevin holds master’s degrees from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a BA in Political Science from Princeton University. He has nearly a decade of full-time experience consulting business school applicants and has established one of the industry’s leading track records in helping applicants gain admissions to Stanford, Harvard and Wharton.
Since 2007, Kevin has worked with more than 130 admits to Stanford / Harvard / Wharton and more than 240 admits to the remaining “M7” MBA programs (MIT Sloan, Chicago Booth, Northwestern Kellogg and Columbia Business School). In the process of attaining these outstanding admissions results, Kevin delivers critical competitive edge for clients by devising application strategies that target how top MBA AdComs make admissions decisions behind closed doors.
An expert in personal branding, Kevin draws on his years of strategy and marketing experience in advising his clients. Prior to becoming an MBA admissions consultant, Kevin developed international marketing partnerships for the National Basketball Association and consulted Fortune 500 firms as a Senior Associate for McKinsey & Company in the U.S. and China. Kevin also brings advanced writing and presentation skills from working as a Senior Correspondent for Reuters news agency and as a PR specialist for Ogilvy & Mather. He translates his branding and marketing experience, deep familiarity with wide-ranging industries, and insider’s knowledge of top MBA AdComs into tailored admissions strategies for MBA applicants of all backgrounds.
Lastly, Kevin does not just guide clients into elite MBA programs; after his clients become MBA students, Kevin continues to mentor his clients on recruiting for summer and full-time jobs and on making the best use of the business school experience. Kevin maintains active connections with his former clients to form a worldwide support network for MBA students and applicants – e.g., connecting applicants to MBA students who had interviewed with the same interviewers so that the applicants understand not only the interview tactics and techniques of particular schools, but also the personalities and tendencies of particular interviewers; introducing new admits to former clients who work in the admits’ professional fields of interest so that new admits can get a head start on career development and recruitment.

Accepted to Stanford, Harvard, Wharton and MIT
Kevin turned an awkward situation at work into a great positional and strategic opportunity for my MBA applications to Stanford, HBS, Wharton and MIT – I will go as far as saying that he saw something from my experience that no one else – including other consultants as well as alums and students from all four of my target schools – saw. He was truly an expert in bridging the gap between what the schools looked for and what I presented as a package.
When I reached the interview stages for all the schools, Kevin made sure that I was thoroughly prepared for all four interviews, especially given that all four schools had completely different interview formats. And, Kevin was able to connect me with many of his previous clients who went through the same interview processes in the same locations – in some cases with the same exact interviewers – so that I could fully know what to expect. For the HBS interview process that required a post-interview essay, Kevin was available immediately after my interview so he could guide me through what to write when details of the interview were still fresh in my mind. Then, within the 24-hour window required to submit the post-interview essay, I literally went through three rounds of editing with Kevin before I finally submitted the essay! I was absolutely impressed with the depth of Kevin’s knowledge as well as the level of his dedication to me. Even after I got accepted to all four schools, I still relied heavily on Kevin to figure out the steps I needed to take to thoroughly understand what all four schools offered, so I could make the best decision for myself.
All in all, my experience working with Kevin exceeded all expectations, even though expectations already were high to begin with. I have personally recommended many friends and colleagues to Kevin since, and I will continue to do so with the highest endorsement.
Accepted to Harvard, Wharton and Columbia
As a non-American applicant, I was looking for a consultant who was extensively versed in how the U.S. adcoms evaluated applicants on multiple dimensions, and yet I also wanted a consultant who was “worldly” enough to know how best to promote my diverse international background. I found Kevin to be the best of both worlds, an exceptional consultant and editor who also happened to be a top-notch application strategist. When we discussed essay topics, Kevin was always respectful but also very firm, often pushing back at my ideas and explaining his concerns if he did not feel that I was focusing on stories and approaches that would play best with the adcoms. Even though some of my essays took 6-7 drafts of review from Kevin to reach submission state, I never felt frustrated by the process, but rather I felt a great sense of comfort and security knowing that Kevin was willing to go such depth to make sure that my stories were told as effectively as possible.
I want to thank Kevin sincerely not only for being my consultant, but also for being my ultimate confidence booster. If not for his encouragement, I would not have even tried to apply to HBS and Wharton. He gave me the ultimate encouragement that someone with an alternative, non-standard background could succeed in the application process.
Accepted to Harvard, Wharton, MIT and Ross
If it weren’t for Kevin, I couldn’t have gotten accepted into HBS.
Comparing to other consultants, Kevin has exceptional and extensive knowledge and insights into top MBA programs and adcom’s perspective. On our first meeting, he provided first-hand in-depth insights for each program, ex: a school famous for a certain field is striving to diversify and focus on developing another, and fully leveraged my profile in strategic school choices. When developing essays, he knew exactly which school was looking for past performance, which for program knowledge, and which for personal match, and provided direction with absolute clarity, accuracy, and differentiation. He prepared me for interviews with detailed tips down to specific interviewers. This level of insights is the sharpest tool for applicants to stand out from millions others.
Kevin is exceptional in developing clear and strategic personal stories that fully leverage my strengths and experiences. He provided perspectives that I’d never thought of before, but fully respects my profile. Ex: He did not request me to retake the GMAT after making sure that I did not underperform, despite a lot of Asian applicants retaking it numerous times to get super high scores while mine is just average. Instead, he leveraged my profile to develop the best proposition that brought out my uniqueness, matched industry trends, made perfect sense, and was really all me.
Kevin really saw my potential and encouraged me to strive for the best even before I believed in myself. He truly put himself in my shoes and empathized with my doubts and dilemmas, and went out of his way to help me through all obstacles. He is also extremely nice, funny, and comfortable to be around with.
I have already personally recommended many close friends to Kevin because I believe he is the best person to help applicants get into top MBA programs.
Accepted to Stanford and MIT
I HIGHLY recommend Kevin, and deeply appreciate his help throughout my application process.
To me, the application process to B-school is not just a process that gets you a Master degree, but a process of self reflection of what you’ve achieved, why you decided to go to business school, and what’s next.
It is extremely difficult to condense the 20+ years of life experience into a 700+ word essay. Even if you think you are a great writer, it is still very hard to really figure out what are B-schools really looking for! Kevin was super helpful in getting me to structure my thoughts and experiences (and my life stories) in a way that the AdCom can understand who I really am and what I really want to achieve for career and most importantly, for life!
After the essays, the interview is another “challenge” as 50% of the students still get eliminated after this process. With Kevin’s help, I was able to practice my interview skills and sharpen my ability to articulate my own stories. In addition, Kevin also provided me a great network of current students/ alumni of the schools I was interviewing for.
In all, the B-school application process was a fun challenge through which I learned a lot about myself and I was lucky enough to get into my dream school, Stanford, where I am experiencing life-changing moments! I wouldn’t have achieved this without the help from Kevin!
Accepted to Harvard Business School
Kevin was an incredible resource in so many ways during the business school process, and helped me get admitted into my top-choice school of HBS.
I went through an extensive research process for about a month and spoke with about 10 different consultants before deciding on Kevin to guide me through the HBS process. I actually talked to Kevin at the end of that research process, and had almost decided to go with another consultant. However, his fluency with every aspect of the application from start to finish was tremendously reassuring, and he was the only one out of everyone I spoke with during my initial consultations who gave me concrete, specific responses to my questions rather than vague, generalized answers.
Throughout the application process, Kevin delivered exactly what he promised he would. I consider myself a decent writer with good credentials, but come from a very overrepresented work background. For me, one of the most helpful aspects about working with Kevin was that he provided extremely detailed, actionable feedback on my essays and short responses that I could directly implement. His writing expertise is flawless. He was also always very thoughtful about helping me craft responses that were personalized to both bring out my strengths as well as tie those to the structure of the business school application framework.
I’d highly recommend Kevin for anyone looking to go through the business school process, whether you know absolutely nothing about it or whether you’ve done all your research and think there’s nothing further to do to improve. The best in his field!
Accepted to Harvard Business School and Stanford
Kevin was extremely helpful in helping me think through the experiences I had and how to mold them into one cohesive package. I wouldn’t say that he changed, embellished or encouraged me to write anything differently than I did, but rather challenged me to go further in quantifying my experiences. I think his encouragement on that front really helped me stand out and I continue to use his advice and approach in applications and resumes I work on today.
Accepted to Stanford
Working with Kevin was an amazing experience.
I decided to work with consultant after hearing that more than a handful of friends and colleagues I knew that were applying to top schools had all been working consultants since day one of their application process. I had my heart set on Stanford Graduate School of Business and had already spent a significant amount of time on my application and essays, so I wasn’t sure how much value a consultant would be able to add to my process. Kevin was extremely valuable. He helped me take my ideas to the next level, understand what made me unique as an applicant, and pushed me to really shape that into a compelling application and essay.
In addition to guiding me along with an excellent process, Kevin had incredible insight into the process and a ton of data from previous clients that was really valuable. His process, insight and data really gave me confidence that I was moving in the right direction with my application.
With the GMATs, personal essays and intense competition, the business school application process is a stressful process. If you are committed to the process and have your heart set on a top school, then I would highly recommend making the investment in a consultant like Kevin! He made my application experience more focused and more fun!
Accepted to Harvard Business School, Wharton and Kellogg
I have to say that Kevin is definitely the best in the business. Coming from a modest background, I was at first skeptical whether hiring a consultant would have much value add. However, Kevin has proven to be worth every buck. He is professional, easy to work with, delivers results and a true friend. But most importantly, he helped me build confidence to reach for things I’d never thought I could achieve.
I tailored my consulting time with Kevin based on my own needs, as this allowed me to use Kevin’s resources exactly where I needed it, while accommodating application preparation efficiently into my busy work schedule. His feedback is to the point and reveals directional insight for my narratives that would otherwise be hard to discern myself. Kevin is a professional with a great eye for detecting good materials from my background to work on, but still remains respectful to my opinions. His expertise and creativity helped me craft my personal story which not only brings out my edge to stand out among all the applicants, but also helped me understand myself better. Kevin also provides an extensive network of resources that continues even after getting admitted. Through him I have gotten to know the interview styles of interviewers, other interviewees who shared their interview experiences with me, other MBA admits who became my initial network of friends when relocating for school, all the way to job recommendations for 1st year MBA summer internship. I would definitely say that working with Kevin has become an investment that delivers long-term value.
Accepted to Harvard Business School 2+2
With Kevin’s help, I went from being a dreamer with a vague set of ideas of what to tell HBS to an strong applicant with a red thread in my life story and concrete goal of how I wanted to implement my ideas into the world. It can be quite difficult to see your life objectively from an outside perspective, which is almost necessary in order to properly convey to others who you are, why you are the person you are, and where you are going (and hence why you want to attend B-school). Kevin helped me pick out the events in my life that are meaningful and pushed me to see how each event has formed me and how it led to the next step, eventually forming the person I am today. He further listened to my less well thought-through notions of what I want to do in the long term, and brainstormed with me to list out possible futures I could strive towards that aligned with my history and seemed realistic (yet still ambitious). We then further considered potential candidates for recommendations, such that we could find those that would best complement my application and help guide them to contribute with information that was not already told by my story itself – had it not been for Kevin I would have certainly gone a different way, which in hindsight would have made my application much less versatile.
Having helped many before me, particularly with applications to HBS, Kevin has incredible knowledge of what the admissions office is looking for, what one should avoid, and how to bring out one’s personality in the application in a way that makes you an interesting candidate. This, for me, was the major contribution from my work with Kevin, although of course worth mentioning are the quick turn-arounds on essays (despite my many missed deadlines and very late nights), the strong writing skills, and overall the very pleasant and comfortable working relationship one easily establishes together.
Accepted to Stanford and Wharton
Working with Kevin on my b-school applications turned a tedious and tough process into an interesting journey of exploring myself. At the same time, he helped me become more confident in myself and my experiences, and guided me on how to genuinely convey these thoughts and flow the words into an application essay.
Kevin is a hard-working person, and we made a great team in meeting all the deadlines. Beyond this, he also was a great mentor in comforting my nerves and paranoia in trying to make extra efforts and extra edits. Coming out of the process, I regard him as a lifelong friend and a mentor who would always help and motivate me.
I can’t express how much I appreciated Kevin’s work in helping me get into my dream schools. I would highly recommend him to all my friends who are seeking a perfect teammate in the application process.
Accepted to Harvard Business School (in Round 3!)
Kevin was instrumental in helping me achieve what many said was impossible – getting into HBS in Round 3.
First, I love the fact that Kevin was extremely honest with me when I first approached him about round three applications. He said he thought I had a strong, though unusual profile, but my chances would be much better if I could wait until round 1 of the following year. Some of the other consultants I spoke with were clearly trying to gloss over the R3 difficulty level so that they could convince me to apply and pay them. By contrast, I found Kevin very thoughtful and transparent, helping me sort through all the pros and cons before I finally decided to apply in R3, despite the great challenges that Kevin noted.
Once we started working together, Kevin took a lot of care in discussing my application essays with me, as the two of us focused at length on how to brand my profile and how to turn that brand into actual words in the essays. He showed deep knowledge of the admissions processes and philosophies of my target schools, and was especially helpful in getting me to understand the difference between what the adcoms say publicly and how they evaluate applicants privately, especially pertaining to my top choice, HBS.
If you’re looking for a consultant who simply tells you to “be yourself”, Kevin is not it. While he did emphasize the importance of staying true to who I am and not trying to pretend to be things that I’m not, he helped me go way beyond this, strategically picking out the parts of my profile that would resonate with the adcoms and pushing me to present the best thoughts and actions behind these experiences. It was truly an eye-opening exercise for me to gain so much insight into what actually moves the needle for the adcoms. I never had someone who pushed me as hard as Kevin did on my own writing, as he made good on his vow to make sure that every single sentence I wrote served not just to make an essay flow better, but much more importantly, to enhance my probability of being accepted.
I could not have found a better partner than Kevin to guide me through this difficult process during a trying time of my life. He is an exceptional consultant, a supremely ethical person, and an innovative strategic thinker rolled into one.
Accepted to Stanford
I attended Stanford GSB, my dream school, largely due to the help of Kevin. With Kevin’s sage counseling, I decided to apply to Stanford and two other schools very late in the game.
I hesitated, but after hearing my story, Kevin encouraged me to apply. I trusted him from our first conversation, knowing I was in good hands based on his success record, depth of experience in the area and apparent commitment to helping me make the right decision for me.
Kevin was indeed the most responsive, thoughtful advisor I have encountered in my work and schooling. He pushed me to be ambitious and fearless in my application. My essay metamorphosed from one iteration to the next until we (finally) arrived at an application I was proud to submit. In addition to Kevin’s penchant for iterating and getting it just right, his investment in me exceeded expectations. He really cared. Even from halfway around the world where he was preparing to get married that summer, Kevin was prompt and thoughtful in every reply.
I was admitted to my first choice school, Stanford. As a non-traditional applicant, there is no doubt I needed Kevin’s expertise to transform my story into one that excited the admissions committee. I did not have the knowledge to do this on my own. Stanford gave me a new career, one that stimulates and gratifies me every day. I am forever grateful to Kevin for his help.
Accepted to Wharton
I decided to work with Kevin very quickly after I had a consultation session with him. Kevin was very efficient and clear in pointing out my strengths and weaknesses given my target schools, and his personal experiences and close connections to school admissions were the key reasons that I decided to work with him.
Kevin was very helpful in guiding me to generate ideas and customizing my applications for different schools. For example, for one of my Wharton essay questions, I realized after discussing with Kevin that my original idea was not effectively conveying the key messages that the school was looking for. Kevin hence gave me different ideas and directions which helped me to organize a brand-new example that fit much better to the question. Without this brainstorming process, I would have never realized how a simple story that happened at work could show my abilities and potential as a leader to a school like Wharton.
Another example was that I was struggling with essay questions such as “express yourself in any way”, since I don’t consider myself a creative type of person. When I was preparing one of those essays, Kevin discussed with me my background, interests, professional experiences and what I expect and want to achieve in business school. After the discussion and thinking about how all these topics were related and connected to my goals in and beyond school, I created my essay in slides showing the different stages of my life as different steps in creating a ceramic piece (one of my interests), and how everything I had experienced from my culture background, my professional experiences and my MBA will result in a piece of artwork (representing my goal after MBA). I felt much more determined and confident in my goal from the process of working and discussing with Kevin.
Overall, Kevin is super efficient and easy to communicate with. In addition, Kevin keeps in touch with his clients long after applications are done. After I went to school, he told me where to go for nice restaurants in Philadelphia, introduced me to other Wharton clients of his, and has continued to help and give me career advice to this day, when I am already two years out of Wharton. The result of my MBA application has been way beyond my expectation before I applied, and Kevin was a critical part of making it happen.
Accepted to Wharton
Kevin was instrumental in my admission to Wharton. He not only mentored me as I designed and composed my application essays, but he also did the same for my recommenders. Kevin helped me ask important questions about my life and the direction I wanted to take it, and to see specific ways in which the University of Pennsylvania could help me reach those goals. What began as a long conversation and list of questions distilled itself into a compelling vision in no time. Throughout the process, Kevin provided incredible comments both of large issues and on small tactical things such as grammar and style. Kevin was responsive and probably read over 7 drafts of my work before submission. One of my recommenders was worried about his writing ability and he was very excited to have Kevin’s advice on how to delicately find descriptions and words that would resonate with the admissions committee. I would work with Kevin again in a heartbeat.
